Helpful tips when engaging tradespeople:

·      Get quotes in writing and only accept quotes that include a fixed price and the tasks required for the job –especially if you are asked to sign a document.

·      Keep a copy of quotes and any contract you signed for the works.

·      Check the tradespeople you are engaging are licensed and insured. Report unlicensed tradespeople to Service NSW Fair Trading.

·     Don’t pay for works all up front. Small jobs wouldn’t normally require upfront payment. Some places may require a10% deposit.
